What are some tips on researching an employers credibility before accepting a job with a company?

Recently a lady called me about a job in the health care field. I have never heard of the company yet she says the company has been around for 27 years. There was some videos and such but it look a lot like an infomercial you would see on night time television.

What are some good tips on researching the legitimacy of a company that is trying to recruit you to work for them?|||First you should find out if this company has a website and check out information about them, like how long they have been in business, what the company specializes in, how long the average employee stays with that company, the average salary and wage people get paid who work for them, and so forth. You could also go to ripoffreports.com and find out from this website if there are any bad reviews about this particular company. This is how I have always protected myself against any businesses and companies from taking advantage of me, or cheating me. Moreover, if this company is offering you a training course and not an immediate job opportunity, be careful. From experience, I have often found such training courses are usually just looking to rip off people by getting money out of them (sometimes thousands of dollars) and never following through with a legitimate job that was promised. If they want you to work for them and are serious about hiring you, get the terms, hours, wages/salary, position, etc. in writing before accepting anything. You also may want to go online to Consumer Affairs or the Better Business Bureau to find out about what kind of a reputation this company has. Good luck.|||Do a web search for both positive and negative comments. Research their website if they have one. Go to Dunn %26amp; Bradstreet and pull their business report, check to see if any one you know works there or has worked there in the past, and check with the BBB.

Also check magazines that write articles in the companies field to see if there is any news published about it.
